FRANKFURT (MNI) – Greece Prime Minister Antonis Samaras plans
further cuts in military spending to close a budget gap of at least
E11.5 billion, German daily Handelsblatt reported on Tuesday.

Citing EU sources, the paper said Samaras had announced this plan
to Eurogroup head Jean-Claude Juncker when Juncker visited Athens last
week.

According to the report, Samaras managed to instill fresh trust
in Juncker and other high-ranking negotiation partners. “He makes a
very excellent impression,” a high-level EU diplomat told Handesblatt.
