NHK is reporting that the Japanese election will be called today for Dec. 16, as expected:
Lower House to be dissolved today
the prime minister is expected to give an evening news conference.
Recent polls suggest the main opposition LDP could gain the most seats in the election.
But no party is expected to win a majority.
That would mean Japan’s politicians would have to negotiate to form a coalition government.
