- Headline CPI declined 0.4% (expected was -0.5%)
- Core CPI was unchanged
- “Core CPI” in Japan includes energy (unlike in the US); the CPI excluding food and energy (which would be equivalent to a US-style ‘Core’ CPI) fell 0.5% in October
