FRANKFURT (MNI) – OPEC has decided to maintain its oil output
ceiling at 30 million barrels per day, the Wall Street Journal reported
Wednesday, citing OPEC delegates.

Given economic uncertainties and a stable oil price, the
organization had been widely expected to maintain its ceiling as oil
ministers were meeting in Vienna, despite a well supplied market and
over-production by its members averaging about 1.5 mb/d this year. OPEC
also held the ceiling at 30 mb/d at its previous meeting in June.

The newspaper said a decision on the next OPEC secretary general
was proving more difficult. Current secretary general Abdalla el-Badri
is set to step down at the end of the year.

El-Badri is expected to officially present the results of the
Vienna meeting at a press conference around 1300 GMT.
