LONDON (MNI) – Claimant count unemployment fell unexpectedly in
November, according to the latest data from the Office for National
Statistics.

Analysts had been expecting to see the claimant count rise by 5,000
as the temporary jobs boost from the Olympics continues to unwind.

The fall in the claimant count wasn’t the only positive news
from Wednesday’s labour market data release. The number of people in
employment, measured by International Labour Organisation standards,
rose to a record high of 29.601 million.

In terms of pay, total pay (including bonuses) rose by 1.8%
