Spanish finance minister De Guindos told reporters after a meeting with fellow finance ministers that he’s hoping for a deal in July for direct bank recaps by the European bailout/firewall system.
With the sovereign crisis downgraded to a smoulder from a wildfire, the main problem in Europe is the banks. A solution to repair their balance sheets will loosen lending and could be start of a real recovery, at least in the core.
