While we wait for the FOMC monster to hit on Wednesday American time, there’s a few minor data points for release in Asia today:

  • 2245GMT from New Zealand is the Current Account for Q2, expected is -1.9bn, prior was -0.66bn
  • 0000GMT we get the July Conference Board Leading Index for Australia, prior was -0.2%
  • At 0020GMT the RBA’s Malcolm Edey, Assistant Governor (Financial System), will be a panel discussant at the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) Financial Services Conference. I haven’t got the topic, and I doubt there’ll be much said about monetary policy or the AUD … but the RBA still wants the AUD lower, so he may chuck a few grenades our way
  • 0030GMT, Westpac/MI leading index for July, prior was flat at 0.0%
  • 0130GMT for China, August property prices, prior was +7.5%
