Reports out of Italy suggest that Berlusconi’s PDL party will resign en masse on the 4th October if the senate vote goes against Berlusconi, meaning he’ll be given the boot from holding a political position.
They have threatened to do so before but recently the threats dies down.

While it may be the same old guff being trotted out, the fact that president Napolitano is cancelling events means it’s something serious and so the euro is taking a hit on the news.
