US politicians are headed for war and the economy will be collateral damage.
Reuters reports that Senate Democrats have decided not to take up a bill from the House that would delay Obamacare for a year in exchange for continuing to fund the government. They also report there is next-to-no activity on Capitol Hill.
When the Senate next convenes at 2 p.m. on Monday, it will maneuver to strip out the amendments to delay “Obamacare” from the House bill and send back a “clean” funding bill, known as a continuing resolution, or CR, that won Senate approval last week.
There is always the chance of a last-minute compromise and Monday will be a day for the political headline watchers in the United States and Italy.
