Europe has been regulating the ratings agencies like only the world’s best bureaucrats can. This year, guidelines forced ratings changes to European sovereigns to after 1700 GMT on Fridays and now ratings agencies are publishing exactly when sovereign reports are planned for publication.

Smaller ratings agency DBRS is the first to publish its schedule for reviews, hopefully the major agencies follow suit. It’s better for traders to know if/when reports are coming out then scrambling to react to the headlines.

Some downgrades and upgrades will deviate from the schedule based on incoming information but it’s a step forward for headline-weary traders.

DBRS’ schedule for all of 2014 is here.
