China manufacturing PMI for December: 51.0 (vs. expected was 51.2, prior was 51.4)

  • A fall on the previous month and below economist consensus forecasts
  • A four-month low
  • Output, new orders and new export orders sub-indices all fell from November

The HSBC Manufacturing PMI follows tomorrow (January 2, 0145GMT). The ‘flash’ reading was on December 16, it came in at a 3-month low.

All major Asian FX trading centres are closed today on New Year’s Day for a holiday. As is Europe, the UK and the US.
