Russia barred 13 Canadian officials in retaliation for sanctions against Russia:

1. Christine Hogan – Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign and Defense Policy ,
2. Wayne Wouters – Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister , the clerk of the Privy Council ,
3. Jean-Francois Tremblay – Deputy Head of the Prime Minister;
4 . Andrew Scheer – Speaker of the House of Commons ,
5. Peter Van Loan – faction leader of the Conservative Party in the House of Commons of the Parliament ;
6. Reynel Andreychuk – Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Senate
7. Dean Allison – Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, House of Commons ,
8. Paul Dewar – Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, House of Commons ,
9. Irwin Cotler – Deputy Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, House of Commons ,
10 . Ted Opitz – member of the House of Commons
11. Chrystia Freeland – member of the House of Commons
12. James Bezan – member of the House of Commons
13. Paul Grod – President of the Canadian Ukrainian Congress

“This step comes in response to unacceptable actions by the Canadian side which seriously hurt bilateral relations,” the Ministry’s spokesman, Aleksandr Lukashevich, said. “But we need this cooperation as much as Ottawa does. That said, we make no secret that we will react accordingly to unfriendly moves – no matter what motives they are explained by. We hope that Canadian officials and politicians will draw adequate conclusions,” the diplomat added.

Freeland is an interesting choice. She was elected to the House of Commons only a few months ago for the opposition Liberals but she’s notable for writing a book about plutocrats and the super rich.
