The Bank of Japan (BOJ) meet today. Its their second meeting in April, at this one they will be publishing the bank’s updated economic forecasts.

There is no scheduled time for the BOJ announcement, as always it comes when it comes. It normally comes during the 0330 to 0530GMT time window – and generally speaking the more the board have to discuss, the later the announcement.

Pretty much all indications from the BOJ leading up to this meeting show they see no immediate threat to growth and inflation. Thus, the BOJ board is expected to maintain the monetary policy target and asset purchases at unchanged. Note, though, this isn’t a unanimous view; yesterday we heard from the trading desk of SocGen (not SG’s Research Department) that they were expecting the BOJ to announce a small further ease.
