The polls are open for the next four days as us European’s hold the fate of Europe in our hands.

The Dutch will be among the first with an exit poll, touted for tonight, but EU spokesman Jonathan Todd says they are not worried about them.

“No, we’re not worried, these are exit polls, they are not results”

If ever there was a comment destined to come back and bite you in the bum, that was it.

The Dutch will release their exit poll after voting closes at 19.00 gmt. While polls are open across Europe the majority of voting will happen Sunday.

There is a risk that anti-Europe parties will gain more traction at the voting booths and the results will be out late on Sunday, so there’s potential risk for the early open of markets Sunday night. Unless the status quo is completely upset I shouldn’t think any market negativity will last. With it being a fairly illiquid time for markets it may present some opportunities to act on any bigger then usual moves.

In the UK we have a large amount of UK elections as well which could result in some GBP negativity if the ruling coalition takes a pounding.
