US House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost in Republican primary last night and now Bloomberg reports that we will resign as of July 31.

Paul Ryan has repeatedly said he doesn’t want the job. Whoever wins will signal the path the Republican party plans to take. A move towards the Tea Party, which is likely, will likely signal gridlock in Congress at least until the elections this year and probably until the end of Obama’s term.
