Ongoing talks have finished with no deal accomplished and Russia’s Novak says that Ukraine has until Friday evening to pay up their gas debt to Gazprom or they will be moved to pre-payment terms for supplies, if the money is not received by Monday (so 2 deadlines then).

He says he offered a $100 discount on prices to $384.85 kcm which was knocked back by Ukraine’s Prodan who said they can get it cheaper from Europe and that Russia may change the discount at any time like they did before. Before it all kicked off Ukraine was paying Gazprom $268 kcm in a heavily discounted deal.

Ukraine now wants to move ahead with an arbitration process.

Novak intimated that further talks are possible if Ukraine shows willingness to pay.
