EU’s Gunther Oettinger is trying to calm nerves it seems by saying all will be well with gas supplies when/if Ukraine moves to prepayment for its own supplies. He’s also interested in whether Western Companies could rent the storage capacity in Ukraine. I’m not sure if that’s to bypass Ukraine having to pay Russia or to give Ukraine some further income to help.

He says that the South stream pipeline is a project we can accept.

Shame they put it on hold in Bulgaria then

;-)

This situation isn’t filling me with confidence. While Russia is unlikely to cut off Europe (the transit through Ukraine) they still hold a lot o the cards if the EU take stronger sanctions.
