Speaking in France’s Le Monde he says that Europe needs a strong France and that he has a relationship of trust with ex French finance minister Pierre Moscovici and that they have always worked well together. Les Echos says Moscovici will be named as EU commissioner this month.

Schaeuble adds that Francois Hollande’s proposed labour pact is a very good idea and hopes that the unions, among others understand that they have to behave responsibly (two hopes of that I reckon).

He says that France can’t improve labour and social benefits without an economy that’s working well.

Schauble is also speaking in Paris now at the same event that Christine Lagarde is at;

  • Says Germany has a huge need for investment
  • Germany needs investment in internet technology (Sounds like us
    :-D
    )
  • Needs to spur private investment
  • Monetary easing must not be used to delay reforms
