Ukraine security service chief Ihor Nalyvaychenko floated an odd theory today.
He said a terror attack was planned on a Russian plane from the carrier Aerofloat at the same time MH17 was shot down. That same day, he says, rebels were preparing for a Russian invasion.
So the idea was for rebels to blow up a Russian plane and blame Ukraine as a pretext to a Russian invasion. That kind of thing has been done many times in history so it’s somewhat plausible but still sounds far fetched. Ukrainian officials have thrown around plenty of conspiracy theories in the past.
