Perhaps the best trade of the last month was to forget the market on Mondays and focus on trading the other four days of the week. The market has been plenty volatile since the beginning of July but not on Mondays.

The calendar remains quiet on Tuesday but things really pick up Wednesday.

Tuesday:

  • German ZEW
  • US JOLTS

Wednesday:

  • Japanese Q2 GDP
  • Australian wage cost index for Q2
  • Chinese industrial production
  • German/French CPI
  • UK jobless claimant count, ILO unemployment & the BOE inflation report
  • German bund auction
  • US retail sales
  • Speeches from Dudley and Rosengren
  • T-note auction

Thursday:

  • Japanese machine orders
  • French GDP
  • Eurozone CPI
  • Initial jobless claims
  • 30-year Treasury bond auction

Friday:

  • UK Q2 GDP
  • Empire Fed
  • US PPI

What’s expected from each report is on our economic calendar.
