Another big UK data point this week is the UK employment report. Much like US jobs it’s been on a very strong roll so the trend shouldn’t really be in doubt.

Lloyds bank has a monthly consumer barometer and the employment component is showing that prospects are looking up.

The employment confidence index rose to 6 in July from 1 in July. Job security sentiment has also improved.

Interest rate expectations have edged back but the path of sentiment is clear. Price expectations are still well below late 2013 and early 2014 levels.

It’s not a big report in itself but again it’s one of those little snap shots that help form the overall bigger picture. If consumers are more confident in job prospects and security then that can manifest itself in other areas like spending and borrowing.
