EU agriculture ministers will be convening an emergency meeting early in September to discuss possible surpluses of food from the Russian ban. The commission say they are acting to reduce the oversupply of fresh produce.

And there you have a big difference between how sanctions work on both sides. Russia can just go and “do” whereas Europe has to sit down and talk about it, several times, before then making something official, which then has to be voted for and agreed, then timescaled in for implementation, while the nations affected get all hot under the collar…you get the picture.
