First posted yesterday.

I’m sure some of you will know from my biog that I’m a life-long fan, and now website-sponsor, of the mighty Shrimpers of Southend United FC who are currently rooted in League 2 of the English football league but flying high (ish) once again in our annual bid to escape! Why not join the crusade and start following them now? Go on, you know you want to.

But what you might also know from recent banter in various comments threads is that one of our past Guest Traders and regular contributor to ForexLive (even as he’s working one of his 65-80 hour weeks!), David Terrell aka “Chef”, just happens to be a born n bred supporter of Plymouth Arygle FC who just happen to be one place and two points below Southend in the aforementioned league.

I first met David through these pages after that week of guest posts because it turned out that his gastro-pub was about 15 mins from where I live and indeed I had dined at on a few occasions without knowing the secret double life of the man with the funny hat in charge of the kitchen. A small world indeed, highlighted even further by the fact that he introduced me in the pub one day to a ” guy that does some forex trading” and who turned out to be the irrepressible Damian Tuite, my former trainee on USDDEM at UBS who went on to much bigger things ( and all that despite my training!) but who I hadn’t seen in many a year and who also confessed to being a ForexLive reader

And so it was, after travelling down a couple of hundred miles with Chef to Plymouth earlier in the season to see my boys lose 0-2 and have a man cynically sent off after 15 minutes, that I returned the gesture by organzing tickets for us both, plus assorted members of my family and gang, yesterday at the hallowed Roots Hall.

A windy day by the seaside was not condusive for a great game of football (a rarity in League 2 anyhow), and the referee was customarily rubbish, but despite it all both teams provided an entertaining, if somewhat frustrating, 0-0 draw ( our third in a row at home) that did neither side any real favours. Definitely 2 points dropped for the mighty Shimpers although, mind you, it could have been 3-3 , 0-1 or 1-0 if some or all of the chances had gone in ( I’m sure Chef will add his own take below at some point! -He has, and some! See below)

So honours even, no bad blood and a result that leave us both still in the mix for promotion come May.

What’s not to like about a day out and story that illustrates the caring sharing, yet highly-competitive, community of ForexLive?

Anyone else out there had similar small-world stories emanating from these pages ? We’d love to hear from you.
