Highlights of the US December new home sales report:
- Prior was 438K
- Sales up 11.2% m/m versus 2.7% exp
- 5.5 months supply at current pace
- Single family home sales +11.6%
- Median sale price $298K
The sales pace stalled out several times in the 455-460K range but it finally broke through. It’s still a long ways to the pre-crisis high of 1400K but a pickup in building would be great news for the US economy.
