South Korea's finance minister Kim Dong-yeon speaks in parliament

More negative comments by South Korean authorities on cryptocurrencies. It's likely one of the main issues the Kim has to tackle at this time, and he has made his stance very clear.

I reckon it'll be easier for him (and the authorities) to outright ban cryptocurrencies in the country but the backlash they may suffer would be huge.

They've already announced that they would impose taxes on cryptocurrencies earlier, but it is highly unlikely to curb the mania that is taking over the country.

Update: He now says that there are currently no plans to get rid of or to suppress cryptocurrencies. Looks like he will be giving it a fair shot after all, so that should ease citizens' worries that they will shut down trading entirely.
