Amazon has now officially opened its doors in the land down under
They will be offering products from over 20 categories, ranging from electronics, clothing, to sports equipment. What's more is that they are seizing this opportunity by offering free delivery on some orders as well as one-day delivery in certain areas.
Bloomberg reports that Amazon is also expected to introduce its Amazon Prime program in the country by mid-2018.
Earlier in the year, when Amazon announced its plans to enter the Australian space, it took a toll on the share prices of local retailers:
This is certainly one space to watch out for, as the trend in consumers start moving towards online shopping.
It will be interesting to see how Amazon handles things from a logistics perspective as Australia is indeed quite large. But expect Australian retailers to start shifting their business strategies moving forward. When the big boy comes into town, things will surely start to change.
