Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite indices extend gains on the day

As Eamonn pointed out earlier here, it's relative calm in Asian markets so far (Japan is on holiday though, so no trades in USTs just yet), following the tumultuous events in the market last week.

The Hang Seng is now up by 0.93% while the Shanghai Composite is up by 0.78%. China's CSI 300 index is also up by 1.25% on the day, with South Korea's Kospi up by 1.01% as well.

S&P futures are on the up in trading so far, and that's providing some relief for equity traders in Asia as well. The natural "follow the leader" game is once again shaping up.

It was a chaotic last week in the market, and Bloomberg had a good piece over the weekend here that highlights some of the stories that market participants went through. For your reading pleasure, as we head into the twilight hours of Asian trading.
