Latest data released by Destatis - 27 February 2018

  • Prior m/m -0.7%
  • CPI y/y +1.6% vs +1.7% prior

Data was scheduled to be released at 1100 GMT, but has been released earlier.

Again, similar with other regions/states, softer on the y/y figures once again. And quite a fall compared to the peak posted in 2017, a similar pattern to the other regions/states.

But the devil may be in the details, as I highlighted earlier here regarding the Saxony report. All there's left now is the Germany February preliminary CPI report, but don't jump on the headlines. The core reading could offer a bit more insight to the underlying trend this month - though it looks like we'll only get the breakdown when the final reading is out in the middle of next month (14 March).
