- he has come to Brussels primarily because it is the capital of Europe and a forum to address the wider world
Puigdemont's lawer Paul Bekaert has worked as a human rights lawyer for over 40 years and has previously fought extradition requests from Madrid for Basque separatists but says new EU rules make it harder for European countries to refuse to send people to other EU states on "political" charges.
Puigdemont was yesterday reported to be in Brussels, a move that was subsequently confirmed by Bekaert but has not been seen as yet. Not long to wait now.
