Comments by the Chinese commerce ministry out on the wires now

  • Unhappy with the protectionism displayed in US trade probe on China aluminium
  • China will adopt necessary measures to safeguard Chinese firms' legal interests
  • US move to harm aluminium trade will hurt bilateral interests between the two countries
  • Actions taken by US are rare in international trade history

Yesterday, the US department of commerce launched an anti-subsidy and anti-dumping probe into imports of Chinese aluminium. And it wasn't just by anyone, it was the government who initiated the probe.

On that last bit, it's true. The last time the US launched an anti-dumping probe was in 1985.

More on that here.

Not exactly the case here, eh? ;)
