ECB member Vitas Vasiliauskas on the wires - 14 Dec 2017

  • Doesn't see the need for additional QE in 2018
  • Euro area growth is gaining momentum

Well, if it were Draghi who commented this way then maybe markets would move a little. Some general comments following yesterday's ECB decision - where they left rates on hold.

The ECB scaled up projections but Draghi's Q&A failed to actually address that or put a positive spin on the inflation rhetoric - so the EUR duly sold off.

EUR/USD rather muted on the day - trading at 1.1781 currently.
