A preview of what's coming up in European trading later

Howdy, everyone! Hope you're all doing well today. It's been a quiet one on the FX front, but there are plenty of news to wrap your head around - and let's not forget we also have the election in Pennsylvania as well.

The dollar is on the backfoot so far today - as Trump goes on a firing spree, causing jitters in the administration, but ranges have been tight:

Anyway, here's a look at the calendar in the European session later:

0700 GMT - Germany February final CPI data

Preliminary figures can be found here. It's the final reading, so not expected to produce much of an impact unless the figures are well off initial estimates.

0730 GMT - ECB's Coeure meets with fintech companies in Berlin, Germany

An event organised by FinLeap. No details if he is to give a speech or participate in any discussion.

0800 GMT - Spain January retail sales data

A minor data point and not one that will matter all too much as we had the Eurozone figures released last week already.

0800 GMT - ECB's Draghi speaks in Frankfurt, Germany

Draghi is to give an address at "The ECB and Its Watchers" XIX conference. Details here.

0845 GMT - ECB's Praet speaks in Frankfurt, Germany

Praet will be at the same event as Draghi and he will be participating in a debate: "Assessment of QE and Challenges of Policy Normalisation".

0845 GMT - ECB's Angeloni speaks in Rome, Italy

He is part of the banking supervision board and will be giving a speech related to QE and tapering, and their effects on assets under management (AUM).

0900 GMT - Italy January retail sales data

Similar to the Spanish data above, not one that will be significant to markets. But a gauge of sentiment, at the very least.

1000 GMT - Eurozone January industrial production data

1000 GMT - Eurozone Q4 employment change

Prior figures can be found here and here respectively. Minor data points, a general indicator of sentiment. Nothing too significant that will move markets.

1045 GMT - ECB's Constancio speaks in Frankfurt, Germany

Constancio will be at the same event as Draghi as well. He will be participating in a debate: "The Pursuit of Financial Stability and Tasks for Monetary, Regulatory and Macro-Prudential Policies".

1100 GMT - US MBA mortgage application w.e. 9 March

Weekly US housing data, measures the change in number of applications for mortgages backed by the MBA during the week. Not the biggest of data points, but a general indicator of the housing sector sentiment.

That's about it on the day in Europe. I wish you all the best of days ahead, and as always, good luck with your trading!
