BRUSSELS (MNI) – French President Francois Hollande called Friday
for a “rapid decision” to release financial aid for Greece as a
“guarantee” for its membership in the Eurozone.

Speaking at the EU summit here, Hollande urged that the outstanding
tranche of bailout funds “be released in the next weeks after the report
of the troika.”

After the efforts and commitments made by Athens and the
“difficulties and suffering” of the Greek people, this decision “should
assure that the question of Greece’s presence in the Eurozone is no
longer posed,” he argued.

Ahead of negotiations over the EU budget, Hollande demanded that
funding for the Common Agriculture Program, which benefits France
greatly, be stabilized and that sufficient money be allocated to EU
structural funds to finance future priorities.
