All eyes will be on Paris today for the meeting between German and French leaders to discuss ways to deal with the escalating EZ debt issue. France and Italy have now been drawn into the quicksand and most commentators seem convinced that the only way to diffuse the issue somewhat would be to issue joint Eurobonds. This is not a popular path in Germany, although they may have little choice in the long run.

One would think then that Eurobonds would be high on today’s agenda but both sets of officials say that it is not. Meeting is set to start at 14:00 GMT with a press conference 2 hours later.
