NEW YORK (MNI) – Online recruitment activity fell slightly among
the nation’s largest employers during the October 2 week, according to
MNI’s U.S. job openings indicator which fell to -1.4 from 3.0 in the
prior week.

But the four-week average, at 3.2, is in positive ground and points
to trending strength for online recruitment.

The industry showing the most positive trend is retail with
manufacturing now picking up steam.

A sector showing a declining trend is information.

Job openings in the latest week total 257,800, or 1.4% of the
sample’s total U.S. employment.

MNI’s indicator tracks individual job listings on a weekly basis
from a sample of 500 of the nation’s largest employers, a group that
employs a total of 19.1 million U.S. workers.

Editor’s Note: MNI compiles its job openings indicator by tracking
career sections of company websites producing a diffusion index that
measures distribution of change.
