Poll conducted by Reuters on 36 economists

  • 28/36 economists say they were "concerned" about the adverse impact the BOJ's policy could have on banks
  • 17/35 economists said recent BOJ comments about reversal rate would not influence monetary policy
  • 1/3 of economists believe talks about reversal rate suggests BOJ will refrain from additional easing
  • Most economists expect the BOJ to start scaling back its stimulus in late 2018 or after

Some general sentiment about the BOJ and their policies. It's interesting that there's still a mixed response as opposed to the views on other central bank policies.

The BOJ is known for surprises of course, so one can tend to not expect the expected when it comes to their matters. The BOJ's final meeting this month is scheduled to be on 21 December - but based on current sentiment there should not be any changes to monetary policy that should be announced.

BOJ governor Kuroda has given some comments on the BOJ's policies earlier this month as I've covered here - for your reference.
