HPI index from Teranet/National Bank

The Teranet/National Bank HPI for February comes in weaker this month at -0.1% vs +0.3% last month.

  • YoY 7.5% vs 8.7% last. smallest rise since March 2016 and the 8th consecutive deceleration from last June Sprecher twelve-month gain of 14.2%
  • Index 218.90 vs 219.19
  • First February decline sine 2013
  • Up in 3 of the 11 medical markets, the fewest since October 2014
  • Vancouver +0.4%, Hamilton +0.2%, Halifax +0.8% were the only gainers
  • Québec city fell -1.5%, Winnipeg fell -1.0%, Calgary felt -0.8%, in Edmonton also fell -0.8% leading the decliners
  • Toronto , 0.1% and Montréal fell -0.3%
  • Vancouver up 12 out of 14 months. however the role unscrewed index was down -1.3% on the month/

The report says that observers have noted a certain haste on the part of buyers to be the entry into effect of tougher conditions for obtaining an uninsured mortgage.
