According to the Halifax, the U.K’s largest mortgage lender, U.K. house prices fell by 1.3% in September, bringing prices down 12.4% year on year. There is one very small crumb of comfort in the fact that last months’ fall was the smallest in 7 months. Some will take this as a sign the decline in U.K. house prices may be bottoming out. I DON’T. Soaring unemployment and mortgage lenders’ unwillingness to loosen the purse strings should be factors ensuring we have aways to go yet.
