Deadline is midnight Friday

The House has cleared the way for a debate and vote for temporary federal government funding bill.

Their plan is a continuing resolution that would fund the government through January 19.

The plan would also contain a provision that would allow President Trump to sign the tax bill immediately instead of waiting until next year.

The plan is a "clean bill" meaning that it does not contain provisions that are contentious enough to threaten the bills eventual passage.

However, there is a "pay go" waiver that would allow Pres. Trump to immediately signed the tax bill approved this week without money in the current budget to pay for them. Without the waiver, the President would have to wait until the New Year.

Needless to say, that could be the sticky point that could delay the tax reform should there be any squeaky wheels in Congress (Senator Paul Rand has expressed opposition to the idea of waiving "pay-go" rules merely in order to give Trump the chance to sign the bill before Christmas), but it is unlikely to stop funding for the government (they would likely alter the "clean bill" and make it "cleaner").
