Economists surveyed by the WSJ in December share their views

  • Two rate hikes forecasted in 2019
  • Expects long-term rate to settle between 2.75% - 3.00%
  • Estimation of US GDP growth of 2.5% in the last quarter of 2017
  • Expects the economy to grow by 2.6% in 2018
  • Forecast of unemployment rate is 3.9% by the end of 2018

Similar to the Bloomberg survey earlier in the week, economists here expect things to remain relatively similar when Powell takes over from Yellen.

And they expect the higher growth in the economy next year would be from tax cuts which will help businesses grow.

With all the talk about US politics over the last hour, let's not forget we have a FOMC meeting coming up later today.
