Oil February seasonals
One of the most-reliable seasonal patterns is buying oil in February.
WTI crude has gained in February in 14 of the past 16 years. In the past decade the average rally is 5% and the seasonal strength continues through March and April.
One warning: Last year oil was a counter-seasonal trade with few of the patterns working. Buying in February was one of the few that did.
Technically, you can make a pretty good case for oil even without the seasonals. Crude is consolidating above the 2015 high right now and there is a lot of clear air above. If global growth continues to rip, there's no reason the party can't continue.
