What to watch for in North American trade

A handful of events will keep the day moving along. Note that Monday is a US holiday so Friday's trading will be thinned out. That could adds some liquidity today and help to liven things up.

First up is at the bottom of the hour with weekly initial jobless claims. That's likely to go unnoticed by the market but housing data afterwards could spark some trading. First is at 1300 GMT with the FHFA house price index followed an hour later by existing home sales.

In terms of Fedspeak, it's Bostic at 1435 GMT and Harker at 1800 GMT but the central banker to watch is at 1700 GMT when Mark Carney speaks in London.
