Repubblica reports once again

The current situation is that Conte and Tria are trying to persuade Salvini and Di Maio to lower the budget deficit target in hopes that they can come to a common ground whereby they are able to present a budget plan that will be approved by the European Commission.

The commission reportedly wants the deficit target to be around 2.0% or lower but Salvini and Di Maio aren't having any of it at the moment. That remains the sticking point in talks here as Italy seeks to submit their revised budget plan some time this week to avoid EDP measures.

Tough times.
