Most indices still up on the week
The European stocks slid in trading today as concerns about trade wars weighed on the global equity markets:
- German DAX fell -0.6%
- France's CAC fell -0.3%
- UK's FTSE fell -1.5%
- Spain's Ibex fell -0.9%
- Italy's FTSE MIB fell -1.32%
- Portugal's PSI 20 fell -1.9%
For the week, despite the losses today most of the major indices ended higher:
- Germany rose +1.9%
- France rose +1.16%
- UK fell -0.42%
- Spain rose +1.27%
- Italy rose 4.15%
- Portugal fell -0.4%
European 10 year yields have moved lower in trading today:
- Germany, 4.04%, -2.2 basis points. The yield is down about 4 basis points this week, but down off the peak of 0.52%
- France 0.734%, -3.2 basis points. Last week, the yield closed at 0.82%
- UK 1.331%, unchanged. Last week, the yield closed at 1.39%
- Spain 1.294%, -5.5 basis points. The yield closed at 1.47 last week.
- Italy 2.603%, -13.5 basis points. Last Friday it closed at 3.14%
- Portugal 1.82%, -9.5 basis points. Last weeks close was at 2.06%
