The BOJ does not have a fixed, scheduled time for announcing their monetary policy decision after their meeting. I've posted on this before, so just a reminder/refresher.

As a guide, expect the statement in the 0230GMT to 0330GMT time window. That's based on past experience, which also also suggests that for a meeting where no change in policy will be announced (no change is the expectation today) the result will be earlier in that time window than later. Here are the recent timings of the announcement after the meeting:

  • 16 March 2017 1154am Tokyo time, 0254GMT (maintains policy steady)
  • 27 April 2017 1214pm Tokyo time, 0314GMT (maintains policy steady, upgraded economic outlook, pushes out inflation forecasts)
  • 16 June 2017 1154am, 0254GMT (maintains policy steady, maintains economic outlook ... boosts its outlook for private consumption)
  • 20 July 2017 1210 Tokyo time 0310GMT (maintains policy steady, upgraded economic outlook, pushes out inflation forecasts)
