October 13, 2016: The JPY is the strongest. The AUD is weakest

A quick snapshot of the strongest and weakest currencies as North American traders enter for the day shows that the JPY is the strongest, while the AUD is a weakest.

The JPY is being supported by a flight into the relative safety of the yen as result of lower stock prices. In Europe, the major indices are down sharply.. The UK FTSE is down -0.92%, the German DAX is down -1.29%, the French CA is down -1.3% and the Euro Stoxx index is down -1.28%. In the US the pre-market futures are lower. The NASDAQ futures are down -29.75 points, the S&P futures are down -12.5 points.

The weakest currency today is the AUD. Although it is down against all the major currencies, it's falls are somewhat limited with the bulk of the declines coming against the JPY. Against the US dollar it has recovered most of it's losses and is near unchanged.

Ranges (see chart below) are liimited but ok.
