Netflix up as they raise prices for To $13 from $11
The US stocks are opening with modest gains. The snapshot of early trading is showing:
- The S&P index, up 3.6 poinits or 0.12%
- The Nasdaq up 25.8 points ir +0.37%
- The Dow is up 7 points or 0.04%
Netflix is up near 5% on the back of the news that they will raise prices for subscribers in the US to $13 from $11. They cite higher costs for the increase.
In the US debt market, the yield curve is steeper with the short end yield down and the 30 year yield up a touch.
- 2 year notes 2.518%, -1.6 basis points
- 10 year notes 2.688%, -1.4 basis points
- 30 year bonds 3.058, +0.5 basis points
In other markets:
- spot gold plus $1.45 or 0.11% at $1293
- WTI crude oil futures up $1.18 or 2.34% at $51.67. The low corrective price could not get below the $50 level in trading yesterday or today. The low today reach $50.64
The USD has weakened a bit after the weaker data today, but remains mixed. The CAD is still the strongest of the majors and the CHF is still the weakest.
