Tokyo's main index retreats slightly amid mixed markets in Asia

Nikkei 21-05

Japanese stocks end the day slightly lower in mixed trading as Asian stocks are performing slightly better than yesterday after the US eases up on sanctions against Huawei, but only temporarily. AxJ indices are the ones posting mild gains, buoyed by Chinese stocks which are faring much better on the day.

Overall risk sentiment is slightly more positive as US equity futures are also up by 0.4% so that should lend itself to some mild gains in European trading. However, Treasury yields aren't really keeping in tune as they sit more flat as we begin the session.

USD/JPY holds a little higher at 110.17 currently but there isn't much to suggest a strong upside move as risk tones are still rather tame for the time being.
