2018 Fed schedule adjusted

If you're one of those people who likes to play way ahead, you will be happy to learn that the 2018 tentative FOMC meeting schedule was just released.

It features the usual 8 meetings with economic projections and a press conference every second meeting. Like this year, the 'big' meetings are in March, June, September and January.

One quirk is that the November 7-8 meeting appears to have been pushed back a day. It's taking place on a Wed/Thurs rather than the usual Tues/Wed. The reason? On Tuesday, November 6 Americans will vote in mid-term elections.

Here's the full schedule:

  • January 30-31
  • March 20-21*
  • May 1-2
  • June 12-13*
  • Jul/Aug 31-1
  • September 25-26*
  • November 7-8
  • December 18-19*

The December meeting is especially late. The following Monday is Christmas Eve so the market won't have much time to deal with whatever the Fed delivers.
