Back from the Memorial Day holiday
US major stock indices are opening with modest gains to start the holiday shortened week.
The snapshot of the major indices a few minutes from the open of the day are showing:
- S&P up 9 points or 0.32% at 2834.91
- Nasdaq up 37.5 points or 0.49% at 7674
- Dow up 86 points or 0.33% at 25668
In the US debt market, yields remain depressed on the day:
- 2 year 2.143%, -2.1 bps
- 5 year 2.088%, -3.2 bps
- 10 year 2.288%, -3.1 bps
- 30 year 2.726%, -2.6 bps
In other markets:
- Spot gold is moving lower at -$11.10 or -0.87% at $1277.80
- WTI crude oil is up $0.63% or 1.04% at $59.2
The AUD is the strongest while the CHF is the weakest and the USD is mixed.
